The Oklahoma Food is Medicine Coalition seeks to decrease the burden of nutrition related health conditions through increased, equitable access to Food is Medicine programs.
Co-founded in 2023, the coalition includes partners from community-based organizations, state government agencies, health care providers and organizations, food banks, insurers, universities, and more.
This coalition is co-led by Hunger Free Oklahoma and FreshRX.
Vision
The Oklahoma Food is Medicine Coalition will decrease the burden of nutrition related health conditions through increased, equitable access to Food is Medicine programs.
Mission
The Oklahoma Food is Medicine Coalition envisions universal access to fully reimbursed Food is Medicine (FIM) programs statewide, ensuring nutrition security, especially for rural residents. Through robust collaboration, FIM programs utilizing local sources wherever feasible will become a common, normalized practice, significantly improving public health.
