Lifting Oklahoma Communities, Agriculture, and Lifestyles through Double Up Oklahoma
The LOCAL Coalition is working to expand this public-private partnership through an investment of state funds. With increased funding, the DUO program can support more communities across Oklahoma.
Double Up Oklahoma (DUO) incentivizes fresh fruit and vegetable purchases by matching each dollar spent in SNAP with one dollar in DUO Bucks that can be used to buy fresh produce (up to $20/EBT card/day).
Goal
Funding of $5 million from the State of Oklahoma would:
Expand the program to as many as 30 new grocery stores in 30 new communities
Evaluate program to measure community health impacts
Increase Oklahoma-grown produce in grocery stores
Return on Investment
Increased local economic impact
Positive community health impacts
Increased food security in local communities
“I buy more produce and a wider variety than I ever could before because I know it will sell. [Before DUO] I could never sell things like asparagus and eggplant, but now it won’t stay on the shelves.”
– Terry
Produce Manager, Okemah Homeland
“DUO has allowed me to buy more healthy food for my kids.”
– Oklahoma Mom and DUO Customer
