Building Oklahoma’s Local Food System One Farmer at a Time
Oklahoma’s local agriculture is at a pivotal point where demand for local food has continued to grow, heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic. Small scale agribusinesses— consisting of beginning and small-scale agriculture entrepreneurs—and the markets they serve have demonstrated a need for further support and resources as they navigate Oklahoma’s burgeoning local food system. The ONIE Project along with many partners established the Oklahoma Local Ag Collaborative to begin meeting these needs. The partnerships through OLAC provide necessary support and formal organization to Oklahoma’s local food system. In this session you will learn about OLAC’s impact on the local food system. Along with a first hand experience from Sheila DeCarlo with Thinkability Inc. on how OLAC has supported food access in their community.
